Boss Construction Management Corp. What Who Contact Home

I am often asked how I came to be in the construction industry. Here's the story: When I was young I had a fascination with taking things apart just to see what was inside. They were usually already broken so I did not have to worry about putting them back together. Understanding what made things work was very interesting to me. As I got older I remember sneaking into a home that was being built while on a family vacation. It was amazing. I got to walk through walls, literally! After that episode, construction projects interested me but I could not see myself being a tradesperson because I was supposed to go to college and have a white collar job behind a desk, or so my parents kept telling me. During college I got a summer job in the engineering department of a local town. I was not an engineering major at the time, I was actually considering becoming a math teacher. But it was that summer, after talking to a project engineer, that I changed my mind. He told me that he had just walked through the sewer lines, which for some odd reason was very intriguing to me. It was at that moment I decided I wanted to be in construction and it hit me that I could have a 'white collar' job too! I went back to college, changed my major to civil engineering and here I am today.

I met my husband, Fred, while interning. He was a project superintendent and had grown up in the construction field. Fred was a carpenter for many years before working his way up so he has excellent hands-on experience which helps us work with our team of craftsmen more efficiently. Our backgrounds are so different but that is why we work together so well. He sees the possibility of it actually physically happening and I see the analytical way of getting done. It's a great partnership.

We also have three (spoiled rotten) Labrador retrievers.

Fred Boss has been in both the residential and commercial building markets for over 30 years. He began his career as a carpenter and eventually became a project superintendent for two of the largest construction companies in Chicago, IL, Walsh Construction Co. and Turner Construction Co. Fred has worked on numerous multimillion dollar projects including 3Com, Schaumburg Library, and the Kennedy Expressway Expansion. Fred's vast experience is both hands-on and behind the scenes. He has a great working relationship with all parties involved in the project and his work ethic is second to none.

Audrey Boss graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After interning with various construction companies during college, she worked full-time with Turner Construction Co. in Chicago, IL. As a project engineer, Audrey worked on many multimillion dollar projects including Lake Forest Place, Buffalo Grove Schools, and Oak Park Schools. She has exceptional knowledge of estimating, scheduling, and field operations. Working with contractors and owners to keep the project on track is her specialty.
